Spring Wardrobe Hacks March 29, 2019
I am only writing this blog to motivate myself to be honest. Just as I was leaving the house this morning, I said to my husband ‘I am actually so bored of myself in these clothes’. I seem to have a created a little uniform (which is actually not a bad thing in the slightest) which has kept me warm and I hope stylish through throughout the last 5 months, but like with all uniforms there comes a point you want to shake things up (any fellow skirt rollers or tie fasteners reading this??)
Not for one minute are we suggesting you buy everything I am about to suggest but rather, we want to present you with a few outfit hacks that’ll help us navigate the next few months with a fresh spring in our stylish step.
I mentioned in an earlier post that the Denim jacket is back (love) but what I find more exciting if I’m honest, is that there’s been a little shift in the cut of our denims. The timing couldn’t be better for flashing a little bit of ankle or sitting neatly over our ankle boots and high tops. That looser straighter cut just seems to work better with things. Admittedly (apologies if I’m repeating myself again) they take an extra thought when getting ready at first but I promise that’s because we are so used to our skinnies. So, seize the moment. Invest in some straighter crops and you won’t look back. The higher waist is also a bonus – who likes muffin tops anyway unless it’s blueberry?
The shop girls favourites right now are the 7 FOR ALL MANKIND Alexa crops. They do seem to look amazing with everything and have been on repeat in the window. They are soft, raw hemmed, that perfect shade of light blue and just the right amount of flare to flatter the hips. If you’re looking for something narrower in the leg then try CITIZENS OF HUMANITY Olivia crop – perfect for summer and again in a soft pale denim and cut perfectly to go with your VEJA V-10s.
An easy place to invest and instantly update for spring. Invest in a new sweatshirt like the Breton striped offering from SUNDRY or maybe a spring knit like the LEON & HARPER cardigan or crew neck – patchwork pastels and stripes make for an easy wardrobe refresh. It’s this time of year that pretty blouses can take centre stage and there are no shortage in store. Whether you want simple, stripes, floral or full on bohemian and everything in between it’s worth coming in to see what’s your bag. Look for something you can layer when it’s a bit chillier, but versatile enough to wear with jeans and switch in a heel for evening. Making your wardrobe work really hard for you is where it’s at!
It’s hard not to have noticed that dresses are having a little moment. Longer length too – So, I don’t know if you’ve thought this but it’s a great opportunity to let the self tanning routine slip. Ha. No seriously, they’re so very flattering and on the whole look as good with some ASH trainers on a weekend as they do with some smart heels for a more formal occasion. Wearing a dress is great on a hectic morning too – just one item and you’re dressed! (Oh, before I forget, you could sling one of our new MERCULES bags over your shoulder to accessorise) I like that. I also like wearing cosy knits over my dresses or maybe the MDK leather jacket depending on my mood or the weather. I am a little obsessed by weather but I guess that’s just being British! We are currently lusting after all of the STINE GOYA, BA&SH and CUSTOMMADE dresses but come in, have a chat and a try and see what you like and what you don’t. You never know until you try!
If you have time, read my blog about spring jackets, here.
See you in store very soon!
